When it rains, it pours...

Well, it has been an interesting week.

Let's look at the week in review. At the beginning of this week, we were really worried we were going to loose our house. I had been unemployed since December, and my unemployment had ran out. We ended up borrowing some money from a couple friends so that we could pay June's mortgage...

Monday, I got a call from Robert Half (about 4:30pm), asking if I was interested in a 1-month contract in Camas, WA. Although it is much further way than I had been hoping for, I was starting to get a bit desperate. I told them I was interested, and they said I would need to do a phone interview with HR, then an in-person interview with the hiring manager. They called the hiring manager, and he didn't want to wait for HR to show up the next morning, and scheduled me to do the in-person interview 9am TUE.

So, Tuesday, I went in for my interview. As soon as I got back to my car, I called my recruiter, and the hiring manager had already called them asking when I was available. Before I left Camas, I was told that I would start 9am WED.

Wednesday, I started the new position. Had 4 different meetings (things like signing the NDA, safety protocols, etc) and installed all the apps I needed to work. I also got a phone call from Nike (not a recruiter) asking me if I could do a 20-minute phone interview for an Senior Applications Developer position. I told him that I was on a 1-month contract, and he said he would call me when I got home. He didn't. I called and left a message for him, but who knows.

Thursday, I went in to work and spent most of the day trying to get the wireless network working at an acceptable speed. It would connect and talk, but too slow to debug anything.

Friday, spent some more time on the wireless, and temporarily switched to a laptop around 4pm that was able to talk at full speed. Also got a call from another recruiter whom I have been in touch with for about a year, about some JSP position.

In theory, I should get my first paycheck (for 25.5 hours) on Tuesday or so -- so still not getting caught up on bills quite yet... however, you can see from the above why I have not been posting on here much this week. Especially since a couple apps I am running seem to have a memory leak and almost lock up my home computer until I remember to kill [end-task since it won't exit anymore] and restart the given app...

Hopefully, soon, things will get a little more under control, our bills get paid, and have some money to start going out again....
