Today's net news

The US government is developing a massive computer system that can collect huge amounts of data and, by linking far-flung information from blogs and e-mail to government records and intelligence reports, search for patterns of terrorist activity.

Yahoo! apparently provided Chinese police with internet activity information in a case that resulted in the arrest of Li Zhi. His crime - trying to join the dissident China Democracy Party.

NASA has announced plans for six more Centennial Challenges for space-related technological achievements.

For some reason, Scientists seem to always forget Occam's Razor [easiest answer is usually the more correct one]... So now, not only are they proposing that there are 10 or 11 dimensions [anyone else smelling guesswork and rolling a d20?] but a way to test their theory

I logged into it for an hour or so... I wasn't very impressed.  Though I do like the capability of in-game scripting... Other MMORPGs should have some more advanced crafting options to allow me to create things or combinations they haven't thought of...   I can enchant an Acid missile spell onto my dagger, but can't enchant my Life Aura onto my armor? Why the hell not?
